Coffee and croissants every Saturday in Chiang Mai…
Great place for long-stay travellers to meet up. Good food, coffee, conversation and friends. The ‘Frenchman’s market’ is truly a unique experience and a life-line for the Chiang Mai expat community. Nestled in the north-west corner of the city, tucked away in the forests, is the infamous ‘French-man’s’ market. Everybody you speak to has heard of it but, unless you know somebody who has been there it is almost impossible to find. The market is not advertised but, it’s supported by a large expat community.
On offer is an assortment of French baked goods ranging from croissants, French baguettes, sour dough bread, pizza, quiche Lorraine and much more. The bread is reasonably priced and to die for. The market includes a number of independent traders selling western food like feta cheese, hummus & organic products. Coffee is also available at the market and comes complimentary with your purchase (first come first serve). The highlight is the company! Many people catch up with friends and it is very much a family affair with plenty of space for kids to run around.
When: Saturdays 7.30 – 11 am
Directions: Go north along Canal Rd turn left at traffic light by the International Conference Centre. Follow Rd. to the end, where you’ll see sign for parking for the market.
